Read MoreThe point of this review is to convey my desire for you to read the book even if you have seen the show. If you don’t want to read the book then the Audible version is excellent. It is read by a man named Roy Dotrice and he does a great job of voicing the characters and makes the entire experience highly engaging. I ingest my books mostly via the paper form but listening to a book, when it is read well, can be an equally enthralling experience. I recommend A Game of Thrones to anyone who loves medieval drama and suspenseful intrigue.
Read MoreEveryone knows about the Game of Thrones series. Whether you like the shows or read the books or both you know that George R.R. Martin can spin an epic yarn. His ability to create a world full of unique characters, political manipulation, and intense combat is legendary. He is able to engage an audience through intertwining stories that involve multiple plots and subplots that all relate to each other and end up coming together in a way that is both exciting and cohesive. This is the case in the Game of Thrones books and I recommend people go out and read them. I also recommend people read two other books that I had never heard of until I found them in a local bookstore.
Read MoreTuf Voyaging is an excellent sci-fi novel that employs scientific concepts and clever problem-solving to propel its main character through tumultuous terrain. It is on par with my other favorite sci-fi book Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and that is saying a lot. Project Hail Mary is amazing and I highly recommend that to you as well. If you like sci-fi, Tuf Voyaging by George R.R. Martin is a must-read!
Read MoreIt is sometimes hard to put into words a proper representation of a mostly cerebral and emotional experience. I think that sometimes sitting down to read a book engages both the right and left brain in a similar way to the way music does. A good book engages the mind on two simultaneous levels. The logical and the emotional. Fevre Dream by George R.R. Martin accomplishes this task by composing a symphony of suspense, violence, and grandeur.
