Book Review: Beans, Bourbon, and Blood by William W. Johnstone

Beans, Bourbon, and Blood is a fun and easy book to read. It offers a classic Western tale with all the tropes one expects while keeping it interesting and exciting. Luke and Mac represent the good guys who can't stand by and watch innocent people suffer. They aren't perfect, but they fight for what's right. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a classic western that has memorable characters and plenty of action.

I was getting closer to some deer when right in front of me, there were two huge coyotes! My heart began to race, and I snapped some shots. They were so close that I was worried they might get nervous and see me as a threat. They walked off to my right through the brush and disappeared. There were two groups of deer on each side of them, and they never noticed the coyotes. I backed off a bit and made my way back to the trail. Here are the shots I got from my trek along the Powell Butte Trail.

Oathbringer: Book Three of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive series is a ton of fun, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy. It is well written, and while it has a complex world to uncover, Sanderson introduces information in a methodical and effective pace. With so many characters and back stories and events and foreshadowing and details, it is not always possible to hold it all in your head at once, but Sanderson does a good job reiterating important aspects and keeping things as simple as possible in the moment. I enjoy these books a lot and can't wait to get into the fourth book, Rhythm of War.
