June 10, 2023 by Joe Gray in Balance, Lifestyle, Sleep, Tips and Tricks
  1. Get those feet up. Use a second chair if needed.

2. Head rest on a chair. Couch or bed with a pillow is best.

3. Quiet, dim, cool, or at least not getting bugged.

4. Set an alarm.

5. Don't worry about sleeping. Just close your eyes and relax.

6. Relax your hands and your face.

Microdosing Mushrooms

October 05, 2020 by Joe Gray in Balance, Consciousness, Lifestyle, Memoirs, Psychology, Thoughts

I hadn't taken psychedelic mushrooms in a long time for many reasons but mostly because I was afraid of having a bad experience. I wrote a blog post a while back about two experiences I had with large amounts of magic mushrooms. One experience was great and one was horrible so when thinking about taking mushrooms again I always worried about having another bad experience. Earlier this year, though, I decided to try them again but in a more deliberate way. Another reason to take less is that mushrooms can make you vomit or have diarrhea and that didn't seem like a pleasant experience, especially out in the woods. I decided to microdose instead of taking a larger amount and just see what happens.

Fuck Ego.

September 28, 2020 by Joe Gray in Balance, Lifestyle, Personal Development, Philosophy, Psychology, Rants, Thoughts

Ego is when you put the mask on that you create that you think makes you look like the person you wish you were. It's you confusing yourself for an illusion. Ego is pretending you don't make mistakes. Ego is thinking that you did it the best you could when you could have done more.

Lessons From the Soulsbourne Games

July 09, 2020 by Joe Gray in Balance, Gaming, Lifestyle, Personal Development, Philosophy, Thoughts

Soulsbourne is the term we players use to describe the From Software games that include Demon Souls, all Dark Souls games, and Bloodbourne.

The first SoulsBourne game I ever played was Demon Souls. This was a long time ago and I did not like that game. It made no sense to me. The story was vague and confusing and the enemies were erratic. Being killed repeatedly by the first enemy in a game can be demoralizing but I kept going for a while. Every step was wrong and led to frustration. I didn't get very far and quit before I felt any accomplishment. I moved on.

Legitimacy Through Fame?

January 21, 2020 by Joe Gray in Balance, Lifestyle, Memoirs, Personal Development, Philosophy, Psychology, Rants, Thoughts

I have a deep fear that I will die and there will be nothing left of me to live on. Something that might impact and affect future humans in a way that validates some of the things I've accomplished.

Re-Post: How and Why I Quit Biting My Nails

December 01, 2019 by Joe Gray in Balance, Free Will, Lifestyle, Personal Development, Psychology, Memoirs

I know what everyone's been wondering. And I mean everyone. They've been wondering about my fingernails. They look normal now which is saying a lot considering a year ago they were horrifying. They looked like the mutilated remnants of a carnivorous beast. They were as scarred as the creature tormenting them and creating in them a physical manifestation of what happens to the soul when repressed emotions, self-doubt and anxiety rule the mind.
